This initiative is designed to support farmers who are already practicing agroforestry but wish to register their land for carbon benefits. No financial assistance is provided for this component, but farmers can still derive significant carbon benefits for their plantations.

  • Eligibility
  • Farmers with agroforestry plantations established after 2019. A minimum plantation density of at least 300 trees per hectare is required. An average of 450 trees per hectare is recommended for maximum carbon benefits.

  • Plantation Composition
  • A mix of forestry and horticultural species is encouraged.

  • Self-Managed or Scheme-Driven
  • The plantation can be either self-initiated or supported through any government schemes.

  • Exclusivity
  • The plantation should not be part of any other carbon project to qualify for registration under MegCare.

  • Training and Support
  • Farmers will receive expert-led training on sustainable agroforestry practices throughout the duration of the plantation.

  • Issuance of CRUs
  • The farmers will start receiving CRUs after 5 years of the plantation.
