MBDA and Iora Ecological Solutions have partnered with Acorn Rabobank to implement Meghalaya Carbon Agroforestry for Community Resilience and Ecosystems (MegCare) programme across the state.

The programme encourages farmers to enhance both nature and livelihood solutions through agroforestry practices. When farmers and forest owners participate in the program, they will benefit from tree produce like fruits, NTFPs and timber, as well as receive additional annual income from carbon credits.

MegCare programme encourages the widespread adoption of agroforestry practices, which can benefit both people and planet.

The programme offers:

• Integration of tree planting and crop production.
• Additional income to the farmer for each tree grown on their farm, based on the growth rate of trees.
• Improvement and diversification of crop production.
• Opportunities to increase the value of your produce and access to remunerative markets.
• Establishment of local entrepreneurs to access profitable markets.
